Concept # 3

Test screening a movie before everyone watches it in a way means that we do get to decide on what goes on in a movie. We sort of do get to decide what we see because based on the audiences reactions and there answers to the questions that they are asked, the movie is changed to suit the audience better, although noy everyone will like the movie. If I was part of the test screening audience I would have siad that she should not do so many repetitivote things like keep going to bed and waking up at the same time. I think that this would have been better if they made something different happen each time, something does happen but it is not dramatic enough for this part.

Media Have Commercial Immplications

It is worth the 3 million dollars even they only get 30 seconds. It is worth the money because they in turn will praboly make more than they spent on the ad since there are many people that watch the Super Bowl. The drink companies would do especially well because when you are watching the game you will praboly get thirsty and if you have just watched a commercial for a drink then you will likely choose that one. Even though the commercials are short they are anticipated upon and are usally better then the regular commercials since there is more invested in them.

Audience Negotiates Meaning

I didn't really enjoy the short film strange invaders because it was hard to understand and confusing at first. At the beggining I thought that it was actually happening but at the end it turned out that it was a dream and I do not like films that end like this since it seems almost point less. I enjoyed the short film runaway though because it was right to the point and very easy to understand. Throughout the film you understand what is happening and are interested enough to watch it through to the end to see what is happening. The other short film that I watched was Uncle Bob's Hospital Visit. I liked some of this video and other parts I didn't. I thought that there was alot of great detail and there was thought bubbles where you could see what he was thinking which was more interesting than if he just talked about it. I didn't like that time seemed too move to quickly and you didn't really have a good sense of time. This film would be best suited for a younger audience because of the concepts in the film.

CSI Effect

Most of us know that media is constructed but there are a few that think that media is showing us the real deal. A few examples of this are TV shows and the internet. TV shows try to put in a little bit of realtiy to make the show seem more real, this could be adding real tools on the show CSI for example. We know that shows are not real because in the opening credits it says who the show was wriiten by and the names of the actors. The internet is very bad for making some web sites seem real by not saying that the general public can change them at any time. Sites like wikkipedia can be altered by anyone yet peole still use this site to do reports even though the facts that they are getting may not be true. These creations of media have a bad effcet on people since some can not distinguish between what is real and what is not. These people belive what the media has created because they have not experianced the real thing and the media is their only source to find out about it. As well the shows are meant to be convincing and especially for little children it would be hard to tell what is real and what is fake.

Photo Retouching

I feel that photo retouching has gone to far and makes the model look completely like someone else. The photos that are being retouched have already been altered because of all the make up that has been put on the models and how their hair is done because this is not they way that they would normally look. An example of this would be in the dove evolutions ad when she had her hair and make up done by the artists and it completely changed how she looked and her natural look. The effects on the audience are entirely bad because this promotes peole to look a certain way even though this can never be achieved since the photos have been retouched. Seeing how much the photos are retouched makes me feel a little better but there is still the pressure to look like this although unacheivible it makes younger girls especially feel bad about the way that they look since most do not have the knowledge about photo retouching yet.

The Mass Media: Has It Got A Hold On You??

I use the media to stay in contact and for free time. The media uses me to sell products and to advertise. The media that I use the most is definitely television and music. These are both 5's since I use them every day more than 5 hours a week and that is what much of my free time is spent doing. The 4 that I picked was my cell phone. I don't use it every day but I use it when I want to talk to friends from different schools. A few that I picked as zeros were social networking sites, MSN and music videos. I reted them as zeros because I have no intrest in some and others I can't use very well like MSN since I can't type very fast. I don't think that the media has a hold on me because I only had a few types of media that were 4's or 5's.
